Services
Assessment, therapy, and intervention services typically involve a team approach. At Main Line Neuropsychology, Dr. Badgley believes that parents, medical professionals, and school professionals play an integral role in learning about each child’s or adult's strengths and weaknesses, and in helping to create an individualized treatment plan.
Neuropsychological Evaluations:
Neuropsychological assessments are usually conducted to determine if an individual's medical history may have an impact on brain functioning. This evaluation is comprised of paper and pencil test measures tailored to the needs of the child. Areas assessed typically include intelligence, memory, attention, executive functioning, working memory, language, fine motor dexterity, visual motor integration, processing speed, academic achievement (see psychoeducational section), behavior, social functioning, emotional functioning, and adaptive functioning. Evaluations involve a diagnostic interview and an assessment session (or multiple sessions depending on the individual’s needs). A school observation, as well as phone conferences with teachers and medical professionals, are also conducted as needed. Parents and family members are invited to also participate in a feedback session. A written report is provided to families upon completion of the evaluation. Independent Education Evaluations (IEE): This type of evaluation is conducted as a school district paid evaluation. Testing involves neuropsychological and psychoeducational testing (please see those sections on this page regarding testing details). Evaluations also involve a diagnostic interview, a school observation, and discussions with school teachers/school professionals. Parents and family members are invited to also participate in a feedback session. A written report is provided to families and school staff upon completion of the evaluation. Participation in an IEP meeting is also often done as part of the IEE process. |
Psychoeducational Evaluations:
Psychoeducational assessments are conducted to help identify why an individual may be experiencing difficulty learning at school or college. This evaluation is comprised of paper and pencil tests to assess intellectual and academic functioning. Academic areas assessed may include reading, reading fluency, reading comprehension, spelling, phonological processing, compositional writing, writing fluency, math calculation, applied math skills, math fluency, and academic readiness skills. However, each evaluation is tailored to the specific needs of the individual (such as only doing a reading assessment). Evaluations also include the assessment of other cognitive, emotional, and behavioral areas of functioning (see neuropsychological section). Evaluations involve a diagnostic interview and an assessment session (or multiple sessions depending on the individual's needs). A school observation, as well as phone conferences with teachers and medical professionals, are also conducted as needed. Parents and family members are invited to also participate in a feedback session. A written report is provided to families upon completion of the evaluation. Private School Entrance Evaluations: Shorter, focused assessments are offered for evaluations for admission to many area private schools. This testing usually involves intelligence testing, but can include other testing as well. |
Other Psychological Evaluations:
Other focused psychological evaluations include attention evaluations (for AD/HD), autism assessments, developmental evaluations, infant assessments, gifted testing, and pre and post sport concussion testing. Evaluations involve a diagnostic interview and an assessment session (or multiple sessions depending on the individual's needs). Testing involves or can involve many of the cognitive, academic, and emotional testing areas discussed in the Neuropsychological and Psychoeducational sections on this page. A school observation, as well as phone conferences with teachers and medical professionals, can also be conducted as needed. Parents and family members are invited to also participate in a feedback session. A written report is provided to families upon completion of the evaluation. |
